The Model Advantage is a data science and AI consulting firm. At our core, we are a team of dedicated economists, data scientists, engineers, and analysts with extensive experience in model development, model validation, and the software systems that put models to work — especially in the mortgage, banking, and federal program industries. We also bring a deep understanding of the regulatory landscape those industries operate under.

Why we exist
Most consulting firms can do one of three things: build a model, build software, or talk about AI. Few can credibly do all three, and fewer still can stand behind the work when a regulator, a client’s board, or a production environment asks hard questions. That gap is what we fill. We build models that are accurate and defensible, AI that is useful and auditable, and software that is maintained and handed over cleanly.

With years of experience developing models for credit risk and prepayment risk, our team is well-equipped to create models that meet regulatory requirements — such as those for CCAR and DFAST stress testing — while also providing genuine insight into your business’s performance.

We provide detailed model documentation that describes the model choice, assumptions, data processing steps, optimization process, test results, implementation procedures, and references. Clear, comprehensive documentation is what lets your team — and your regulators — trust the model.
We also cover the full data lifecycle around those models: ingestion, cleansing, and advanced analytics that turn fragmented data into a strategic asset, plus automated reporting and real-time dashboards (BI) that give stakeholders a single source of truth for evidence-based decisions.
AI agents and automation
We build practical AI that removes repetitive work from operations — document processing, research and monitoring, recurring reporting — with the guardrails, evaluation, and human oversight that make it safe to rely on. We are deliberate about where AI helps and where it doesn’t; our job is the outcome, not the technology.
Custom systems & business logic
We build software around your specific business — your rules, your workflows, your logic — not off-the-shelf templates. That means custom systems that encode your pricing rules, approval workflows, and decision processes into tools your team uses every day, alongside the supporting work: legacy SAS to Python and Spark conversion, data pipelines, model emulators, and APIs. The goal is software that is efficient, scalable, and user-friendly — and that actually fits how your business runs.
